About me
Rachel Scarpino is an Organizer at JALSA. Rachel attended Hofstra University for her bachelor’s degree in Global Studies, Geography, and Political Science, and UMass Boston for her master’s degree in Global Inclusion & Social Development. Her organizing background includes an initiative to add gender-neutral housing options at Hofstra, and she led the university’s Geographical Honor Society chapter in collecting and sending textbooks to several countries in sub-Saharan Africa. She also has previous experience supporting international public health programs at John Snow, Inc. and local early education programs with United Way. Her research interests predominantly fall under the umbrella of systemic solutions to social barriers, especially regarding access to quality healthcare and education. In her free time, she can usually be found reading, playing with her dog, or sharing geography-related fun facts.
